Copper theft from SLECA substation leads to power outage
About 6,700 SLECA customers were without power in parts of Terrebonne and Lafourche while crews repaired a substation.
SLECA’s Landry substation on Coteau Road was damaged after copper theft from its transformers.
The station was taken out of operation about 4:15 p.m. on 7th May. so workers can replace the copper and make repairs. Homes and businesses in Bayou Blue, Raceland, Coteau and Gray are affected.
