Sabha power plant in Libya exposed to copper theft and vandalism
General Electricity Company press release dated 1st May announced the exposure of the North Sabha power station to sabotage and copper theft by unknown persons.
The Director of the Information Department of the General Electricity Company, Mohammed Al-Takouri, said that an unknown group had stolen a quantity of copper and some components of the station, including two MVA125 transformers. Al-Takouri noted that the station is considered the only refuge in terms of the distribution in the city of Sabha.
The southern region of Libya is frequented by theft and looting of power plants and power transmission towers including cars that transport the operational materials for stations.
