Copper theft continues to be a problem around the area and across Alberta. Infrastructure authorities are urging residents to call police if they spot something suspicious near electrical substations
Police are looking for two suspects involved in a copper theft from a Hydro One substation in Windsor, Ontario
Over the past five months there have been nine separate Copper thefts at a disused part of the TATA chemical plant in Winnington.
On each occasion copper worth thousands of pounds has been stolen from a disused building within the still working site.
Columbus, Neb. – The price of copper has been inching up slightly in 2017, and so have copper thefts. Copper theft, done specifically to pick up a small amount of cash quickly, is especially harmful because of the safety risks it creates when taken from electric utility property, such as substations and power poles.
NEW ORLEANS — Police are searching for the man they believe stole from an Entergy substation, forcing officials to cutoff power to thousands of customers while they made repairs.
The South African power utility, Eskom, explained that the two were part of a group of five that had been spotted near the substation, which had been a target for copper theft in recent weeks.
Vandalism and copper theft continue at High Voltage Substations despite strong warnings.
Metro Police said a convicted copper thief was critically injured Tuesday morning after he’s accused of attempting copper theft from a Nashville Electric Service substation at Dunn Avenue.
An eyewitness told Fox 17 News he saw the man on top of one of the transformers before the man caught fire and started screaming. The witness called 911 and the man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is critical but stable condition.
